Curious what you think! š¤©
Plus, how to get people's opinions without the Judgment Monster rearing his head
When I used to teach social media, Iād tell my clients, āYou canāt figure it out in your head. Youāve got to put it out there and see how people respond and then adapt.ā
And then Iād race back into my brain where Iād diligently try and determine exactly what my audience wanted. š
Well, folks, Iām a changed lady!
Weāve been doing this experiment for a month now (one action a week) and I want to know what YOU think. I could guess all day, but I thought itād be better to go to the source, because youāre the ones Iām doing this for.
My sense is one action a week is too many (but I could be wrong!)? I DO NOT want to overwhelm you - I want this to be fun, easy, and uplifting so you make the time to do it!
Plus, I like the idea of interspersing resources - How to Actually Have Fun This Summer, 5 Ways to Look at Your Phone Less, An Easy Way to Get Up Earlier - with the actions.
BUT, if you like the consistency of every week, Iām totally here for that too! Iām open to what works best for you!
Would you take 2 seconds and let me know what you think so I can give you what you want?
I really, really appreciate you taking the time to answer this poll!
And you didnāt think I was going to let you off the hook, did you? MWAHAHAHA! This is the perfect segue into this weekās action!
Get curious about something small in your life
Too often we make assumptions, write stories in our head, or overthink situations when all we really need to do is get curious.
Getting curious means you wonder, but arenāt overly tied to the outcome. You can do something with the information or you donāt have to! Youāre just gathering intel so you can decide if you want to move forward in a direction (or not).
You could get curious about things like:
YOUR KIDS: ask your kids how they feel the summer is going and see if thereās anything theyād like to do differently
YOUR PARTNER: see if thereās a place where you could make your partnerās life easier
YOUR BUSINESS: ask your customers if thereās a specific product that would be helpful to them or what their biggest challenge is right now
YOUR ONLINE BUSINESS: ask your followers what kind of content they would find most helpful or what questions they have for you
YOUR HOUSE: look at an area that gets congested with stuff and wonder if thereās a different way to set it up (or should you let things go?)
YOUR HEALTH: ask ChatGPT for easy ways to improve your health that donāt take a lot of time or money
YOUR FINANCES: pull up your bank statement and see what the first 10 expenses are and observe how it feels in your body
YOUR BEDTIME: notice how tired you are at night and how easy it is to get up in the morning
Do you see how thereās no judgment in any of these scenarios? Youāre just noticing. Thatās it. Just noticing the data and then you can do something with the new intel or not.
š WHAT IF I DONāT LIKE WHAT I FIND?!?!?
Remember, weāre just gathering information.
If you donāt like the answer, you have options! You can:
- dig deeper and get more intel
- ask yourself why itās bugging you so much
- say you donāt like the answer
- ignore it!
Asking doesnāt mean youāre committing to anything.
I asked you for your opinion on newsletter timing, but, ultimately, Iām going to do what I think! YOU SHOULD TOO.
š IāM NOT SURE HOW TO ASK.
I find the best way is to start by saying, āIām curious about somethingā¦ā
It takes the pressure off because youāre simply wondering and thereās no outcome tied to it.
So, I might ask the kids, āIām curious if summer is going the way youād hoped?ā Iām not saying anything will be changing, Iām just asking the question. Make sense?
Iām for sure going to ask my kids how theyāre feeling about summer because now Iām really wondering. And the finance question made me feel a little woozy so I probably need to do that one? Just going to remember Iām going in with curiosity, not judgment!
Okay, what do you want to get curious about this week?
Remember, make it easy and doable. No prizes here for hard or judgmental (in fact, thatāll land you smack in Naughty Room where youāre going to have to listen to āFarting in the USAā on repeat and you DO NOT WANT THAT).
Tell us in the comments or in the chat what youāre going to do!
Hereās to a lovely, curiosity-filled week!
xx. Kara
