I’m notoriously bad at doing my make up.
When I was about 25, a gal at MAC walked me through how to do eye shadow and I’ve been doing it the same way for, omg, 25 YEARS.
Which doesn’t mean I haven’t tried! I’ve sampled tons of different brands and have maybe found one or two things I like, but never enough to stop my quest.
UNTIL NOW.
I kept hearing about Merit and how natural it looks and how easy it is to use so I decided to give it a go. LIFE CHANGING.
There are so many things I like about it, but here are the top three:
You can’t mess it up. There’s no contouring or primer-ing or anything complex. You just plop it on your face (quickly!) and it looks great.
It really does look natural. Every color I’ve ever bought has looked good on me and enhanced my gorgeousness versus a lot of the other brands where I start veering into Gloria Swanson territory.
There aren’t a lot of products to choose from. Which sounds weird, but it’s so overwhelming when they have contours, bronzers, color correctors, and primers! I don’t know what I need!!!! I like that they have like 10 products and that’s it.
So, here are all my fave products that I use on a daily basis. I also like their eyebrow pencil and their gloss colors are total winners, but I don’t use them every day so I didn’t include them.

Merit Foundation Stick:
This is the best foundation I’ve found and I’ve tried them all! It goes on smooth and look super natural. I wear “Dune” and am pretty fair (very red), but use their color finder tool because it’s excellent!
Merit Cream Blush:
LOVE THIS! I feel like it gives a nice pop of color and you really can’t mess it up. I have this bright pink one for summer and then a more chill one for winter (they also last forever).
Merit Blending Brush:
I feel like you need this brush and I’ve never bought a dedicated brush before... It really helps the foundation go on smoothly and evenly.
Merit Brow Gel:
I’m obsessed with bold brows still (I feel like they make me look polished) and this is the easiest, most long-lasting one I’ve found. I used to use Glossier’s eyebrow gel and this is like a million times better.
Merit Mascara:
I’ve tried every mascara out there (SERIOUSLY!) and this is the one I consistently keep buying. It goes on without clumping, it stays put, and it separates my lashes and makes them look longer.
Merit Lipstick:
Here’s the thing with their lipsticks - the shades are GORGEOUS. Nothing too over-the-top, very flattering. I love them, BUT they don’t last for a long time. They tend to wear off fairly quickly so you have to keep reapplying. I still wear them because I haven’t found better colors, but know you’ll have to be on it!
Merit Eyeshadow:
Again, their eye shadow colors are GORGEOUS. I have several and they all look good and enhance rather than make you look made up. My only complaint is that they can get dry (in the pot) so you have to work at getting them on once it gets older. But, it’s worth it to me because they’re that good!
Merit Highlighter:
This would be the one on my list, you don’t really need. It’s fun to have, and is super subtle, which I like, but the other ones are daily uses for me and this is more for when I want to SHAZAM the world.
